The thread : How do I deflate this fender? ... has me thinking about the useless ball fender I have ... which has this ridiculous double valve.

The threaded part in the ball is faulty and air escapes via the joint of the outer to inner skin whatever I do ... that's IF I can get air past the stupid valve !

I'm wondering if I can fill the fender with something else - ie foam or similar ?

Shame to waste such a ball fender - but if it cannot stay 'inflated' its no use to anyone.

Ideas (I've already considered binning it !) ?????

One of those similarly useless tyre inflation kits?

And/or, if you can get it to hold air with some kind of sealant, you could perhaps inject an appropriate amount of diluted grape juice with bakers yeast.

Thought of this as a self-inflating tyre trick but never did anything about it. Need trial and error to get the amounts right for the volume, and overinflation error could be dangerous.

I bought new valves for it .... still same ... then found the two skins were leaking around the valve fitting.

I have had a hard look at this valve design and really cannot see the logic of it ... what's wrong with the old needle valve most use ??

I have liquid PVC specially for repairing dinghys ... I may try some to seal the skins ...
