What to do with an old boat.

At the other extreme… a friend who has an immaculate Nic 55 which he has refitted from stem to stern was chatting to Sir R K-J who asked what boat he had and, on being told, Sir Robin said “How are the deck leaks?”

In my friend’s case there are none because she has a GRP deck moulding and he has carefully dealt with every crack, but I know two 55s that are now serious megabuck boats, having been built with “teak over ply” decks and at a later stage neglected, both now re-decked and rebuilt professionally and drop dead gorgeous!

I think the previous Lloyd's club yacht was a nic 55.

One of the two that I had in mind - she was built as “Lutine” and was the first of the class, now named “Eager”. The other one that I was thinking of is “Quailo”, ex “Broadsword”, ex “British Soldier” ex “Quailo”.
