HI, off to BOulogne hopefully next week. I now there is an aquarium that I have heard abou. Plan to be there 3 days or so - any other suggestions ?.
Thanks.
The Beach is pretty good if the weather is good - and near the aquarium. Old town is interesting but not for the kids; long walk for a six year old up the hill. Good choice of restuarants up in the old town although they can be pricey.
Nausicaa aquarium on the way to Wimereaux is walkable from the harbour- just. The old fortified town up the hill is worth exploring, and is walkable from the harbour (lotsa restaurants). The beach is surprisingly good, I'm told by other yachties that have tried it.
Further afield (i.e. taxi) you could expolore the WW2 'Altlantic Wall' fortifications at Cap Gris Nez & Cap Blanc Nez, or the amazing Musee in one of the bigger German forts at Wissant. There's a sizeable collection of WW2 military vehicles, guns etc outside in the open, including a railcar mounted ex-battleship gun that the kids can climb over. Quite a lot of the exhibits (including heavy & sub machine guns!) have price tags on them .....
