I know the (upper) Thames tideway isn't quite like that , but we get a few NB's each year that head off into a flood tide ( weirdly , it is usually a big spring ) , against our advice. They know best .... 'Been doing it for years lad' that sort of thing.

Most return shortly afterwards to wait for slack water , and taking the ebb down , as we told them too.

Last year one was pinned sideways against the butresses of Richmond Bridge and the lifeboat had to get them off , as it was starting to tilt a bit

We can't stop anyone from leaving when they want , we just try to offer whatever help we can. We are pretty good at Tedders in working out times for people , they just need to ask.

There was a lady the other week wanting to go to St Kats , turned up with an Ipad , having worked out the tides , spoken to the Richmond lock keeper , everyone it seemed except us. Told us she needed to be at St Kats at 14.15 ...

I worked out a completely different departure time to what she had been told / worked out. She was sceptical , but we agreed that she would call us when they got to St Kats. As it turns out , i was wrong ....... by 10 minutes.

Since the blighters are taking up all the moorings on the Thames perhaps the people who don't like this rule should (expletive, four letters) off elsware. More room for us Tupperware users.

They don't normally appear until after Wimbledon but there were quite a few about over the weekend and some of them did look "happy" under their umberella's in the rain.
What a way to relive bygone days. Still it must keep them happy,give me a nice wheelhouse and decent set of wet weather gear.
The mooring charges at the EA sites really does keep them moving instead of sitting on their Spam cans for days and sometimes weeks on end. Let us hope that the mooring rules are adhered to by the EA. and that all moorers are either charged or moved on.

Did you actualy read what the NB's said your response is uncalled for, the NB's know what the rule is for its the traditional bolinder powered boats that take 15 minutes to restart who have a genuine problem.

Don't worry its ok to admit you like narrowboats when in the newsagents do you furtivly glance at the cover Waterways world, do you inexplicably keep finding yourself in Canalside bars in the company of bearded folk, do you find yourself admiring Rose and Castle themed tat, are you wondering if Rosey or Jim would be a good name for your first born, do you prefer a tiller to a round one.
