Please go and look at what the rules actually say.

Don't blame me, blame the instructor that passed me on my YM Theory course, didn't quite get 100%, 96% as I recall...... Here is the signal I was informed to give to all give way vessels....

I would certainly not do that, my apologies if you were offended, it's an interesting thread, just trying to lighten it up a bit. We know the rules, but sometimes common sense must prevail. Don't be too rigid, that too can lead to disaster.
