what should the oil pressure for volvo penta 41-p

Well mine run at 30psi on tick over and just over 60psi WOT. 2000 vintage with 1260 hrs on. They have done this since day one. O and fixed to 290DP E's

My TAMD 41P with 800 hours shows 80 lbs at cuising revs and about 60 at a fast tick-over. But who knows how accurate the gauge is?

Check contact corrosion as it impacts the reading. Temp gauge will read higher and oilpressure lower I believe. Learned this the hard way chasing an overheating problem that wasn't there. Now have an IR gun.

Sorry to resurrect an old(ish) thread but can anyone tell me if the oil pressure sensor either works/fails or is there some middle ground where it malfunctions and can give false readings?

Quick comment, if the temp sensor or alarm has got problems, you may well have to bite the bullet and buy a genuine VP unit.
Bosch, for instance did not appear, when I was searching , to have a sensor which exactly matched the one needed in the 41 series engine .
Gave inaccurate low readings on oil pressure gauge.
From memory about £ 70.00 from VP.
Not quite the same Bosch item around £30.00
Might be something available now from ASAP or Marine Repower ?

Hi, thanks for your reply. Just a bit confused. I've found the part you refer to (about £70) but I'm looking at part no 866833 (send to gauge) around £136.00. Was it this part you replaced as I think this is what's giving me inaccurate low readings.
