I need to do some painting and fiberglassing inside boat (never done before). Not much, as boat is quite tiny. I wonder which type of protection from fumes I need. Ebay still sells (overpriced) respiratory mask. I quite like Trend ones: Trend Stealth Half Mask P3R but I am not sure if its enough to work with fumes. I don't like generic one from ebay, as I don't trust they are safe.

Fumes from polyester or epoxy resin don't bother me but if sanding grp I use a fine dust mask. OTOH, I had a very bad reaction to the adhesive for vinyl linings even with the supposedly correct mask, beards and masks don't go well together. What you will need depends on type of paint being used, look at the can or data sheet. Solvent mask will also be good for filtering fine dust but, dust mask no good for solvents.

I've used a small desk fan to move the air when I renewed some lining. I would ld try and do the same for painting. When grinding fibreglass clean I have used my garage vacuum cleaner, with it outside and an extension hose to where I was working.

P3 only refers to dust protection. There are different categories (with other letters) for chemicals e.g. resin.
