What oil to use KAD32

I have a KAD32 that is a little low on oil and could do with a bit of a top up, then again maybe need a complete oil change and filter change.

What oil should I use? Volvo say 10W/40 VDS or CD and about ?9? litres does ths sound right?
Is this a synthetic or mineral oil? And are there any alternatives without the Volvo label on (which seems to add a bit more!)

Any help greatly appreciated

This has been covered quite a bit recently. The general consensus seems to be that the Volvo stuff is not much dearer than other makes that meet the same spec. You can get cheaper oil that meets nearly all the spec but will usually not meet the VDS requirements.

9 ltrs of VP oil will cost around £50 at a guess. An alternative good make will cost around £35-40. As a once a year cost, I would be happy to pay the extra £10-15 and know that I definitely have the right oil.

I've just bought 25litres of Q8 T720 15W-40 Volvo Spec VDS-2 for £52 delivered free. I think that probably works out about half the price of volvo but of course it's twice as much as you need!!

My manual says 15W40 VDS2. If you want to stick with Volvo, go to your local Volvo Truck Service Centre. 20L of VDS2 £50.80 plus VAT part no 1161975
Having said that I was told VDS2 is not made any more and I should be using VDS3
