What little job did you do on your boat this week?

I dug a big hole in the front of an Oyster and then plugged it back up again.

1. Re-bodged the opening section of the windscreen which had parted in the hot weather. It was only held together by a strip of mastic/rubber stuff.
2. Stared at the compass and wondered why it had lost a third of its liquid.
3. Phoned compass service agent and found that it can no longer be repaired.

Programmed a Balmar external regulator with the small magnet. They make these very strong to prevent damage when you hurl them with all the strength you can muster during peaks of frustrated rage.

Typical British workman, does just the job. Cannot comment on the antfouling or can I? Reminds me of the road repairers who only repaint the letters of a road marking they had dug through, despite the rest being badly worn. :) :) :) Neat job Mike.

The blue on the thruster area is actually high build epoxy primer.
It had three coats before a another skim with Alexseal epoxy fairing compound, which is currently one of my favorite new things to use.
It goes on like a high quality plastic padding but is epoxy based so it sticks well and is really easy to sand and shape.
Takes a few hours to go off so its a job left to the and of the day so its ready to sand in the morning.
Then when smooth it had a tie undercoat before the whole hull was keyed up and had two coats of Anti foul.
Didnt bother to photo that as it pretty much looked the same .

As we are still ashore and will be until next year at least can work on her in relative comfort of 'Summer'.
Varnished the chart/general table, measured up for fitting a couple of items in the cabin, stripped and refurbished 'Morse' engine control which was getting a bit stiff and tatty. Engine still winterised from 2019/20 winter, but will quickly recommission for a few days to run it ashore just to check it through before this Winter.
Still have to fit new prop, but putting it off as have to skim down the shaft nut to align up the split pin holes, as well the back- breaking job of re-connecting the prop shaft to the drive unit. Also to do, pull through And remove obsolete wire from mast as well as fit new VHF aerial, mast is down at the moment so fairly easy, but despitè there being a big red cone strategically placed at the end of the mast, to warn car drivers to be careful when turning , someone managed to hit the perfect good aerial and wreck it. Varnish deck grab handles When we get a couple of dry days, and general a clean. Antifoul can wait till March next year.

I had the pleasure of wiring in and comissioning said bow thruster and the unfortunate displeasure of starting to lay a Flexiteek deck.....

Some more shaping to do as well as new deck drains and filler holes to be cut in as well as a couple of plastic welds to make then it all needs bonding down. Then I have the wet bar to put back in place and new locker doors to lay up in the moulds. Summer fun :cry:

The lower rigging wires have looked a little slack on the last couple of sails. Decided the baby stay needed tightening up. When I looked closely, I found that I had neglected to do up the lock nuts on the bottle screw. Oops!
