What kind of boat do I have and how do I get a windshield?

Hi, I got a boat for free as a project. The title says 14ft 7in and only says SPCNS. Any idea what the manufacturer is?

HIN doesn‘t help.

Thank you

No idea what the boat is, but clearly intended for outboard propulsion. It is an odd hull form as it is neither full displacement not a planing boat, Frankly it is little more than a bare hull and will need lots of work to turn it into a functioning boat. Probably not worth spending anything on it.

That’s a bit negative,if it floats a small outboard and a pair of oars, three cleats ,small anchour and rode,no better or worse than the toreout my father entertained us with inthe late 1950s…….PBO spirit!

I have no idea of the maker, but it looks very generic, there were lots of small producers of small cheap and basic speedboats in the late 1960s and 70’s.
If I was starting out with a boat like this (again), I would try to find somewhere that had similar cheap speedboats in use, or storage and see what ways other people have kept them in use long after the manufacturer has closed down.
Clever ways to get it working in a basic and inexpensive way is all this boat deserves, but it could be fun on a river or sheltered water. That flat hull will not like any waves, or speed surprisingly.

It’s not much worse than some of the 50 year old Fletchers and Pictons that I started boating in.
I bought and sold on 14ft speedboats and engines for a weeks beer money and had a whale of a time.

For a windshield, make a cardboard template for your chosen shape, don’t make it too tall or bending too much, and find a supplier of plastic sheets or sign maker who can cut it and shape it with heat for you.
You won’t find anyone who has one in stock, every new one is bespoke from a back street workshop.
In the UK I would expect it to cost around £150. It might be important to you to have a windshield, or it might be over budget for this boat.
While it looks like a windshield would suit the look of the boat, the boat will not be suitable for any use that needs a windshield.

A wooden water deflector on the bow deck may be worthwhile having to stop some of the spray or waves coming over the bow. ie vee shaped point to front angled 45 degrees top forward from near one side to the other. Your experience with the boat will soon tell you what you need. Get a motor and get on water. ol'will

A windscreen may well improve the look of the boat, even if it isn't a necessity. If labour is free and money is short, I'd be inclined to play around with some bits of cardboard to make a template that looks right, then either buy some ally framing or make it out of a suitable wood - sapele, perhaps. I'd start with a join in the middle, straight to each side, then triangular bits to give it rigidity, a bit like the quarterlights on an old car - a bit like this

iu

That allows you to use flat sections of Perspex, and all the framing would be straight.
