Made by Autonnic in Tollesbury - trailing log. Made early 90's. I found it accurate, though in areas of weed it had to be reeled in and plopped back in after clearing. Distance was hard to read. Useful to calibrate the through hull log which replaced it.It is the mounting base for a trailing electronic speed log. I think is was made under the Echopilot name, or something similar. There should be a long cable hanging out of the bottom with a kind of propeller that you trail behind your boat. I had one for years, but the display part fell off just south of Jersey many years ago. It did not float!! They have been out of production for twenty or so years.
