Interesting, how many entries here relate to Scottish, Irish, Welsh or foreign harbours. I mean, a high proportion of dissatisfaction in them, relative to the presumably greater numbers of harbours and users, in England.
St Malo's not bad. Not nearly as much noise from the ferries as you might think and decent facilities. Steep climb up to the quayside at low tide. The old city of St Malo is well worth a visit and there are several good restaurants not far away at Quai Solidor.
I try to avoid the clubhouse at Bradwell if at all possible.

Except the old city of St malo is not that old - It is a fraud -as the original was almost completely destroyed in WW2
It is possible that you are talking about different places. It's a good while since I went to that part of the town but there is an old part on the peninsula to the west. This is an attractive small area with some impressive relics of the last war.
That sounds like the Citadel or Old City, which was indeed almost completely destroyed in the war. Rebuilding took about twenty years.
