It's a Firefox add on.

You probably didn't subscribe to a filter when you installed it.I've had it installed and operational for ages - but I'm still getting the bl%dy ads - which are a distraction and add to the page download time. Grrr.

See here - and click 'add to ABP' next to Easylist:

Nothing - Firefox with ad blocker and Flash killer.Nothing - (Firefox with ad blocker!)
Do you? I'm surprised. I would have thought that Easylist would have caught that automatically. This time I actually read the instructions in AdBlockerPlus! The top and right banners won't automatically disappear - you have to right-click on the banner(s) and select 'block'

I assume you've checked that you've subscribed to a filter - left click the red octagon and scroll down - you should see the line Filter Subscription followed by hundreds of lines. On mine the filter includes adserv and some others which this site uses.
But I'm not certain because even if I disable ABP the ads are blocked here by various other methods ;-)
