Have you looked at the stern of an Enterprise. Apart from the issue of not being able to attach the rudder, if try to mount in the centre the outboard clams would fall into the gap where the tiller goes through, below the mainsheet traveller.
so would need to be offset to the side.
As most have said, as small and light a 2 stroke as possible (or electric if budget permits)

Yes I have looked. I was following on from Refulers post. Enterprises have a fixed main sheet block on the stern as well, if not modified.

The Enterprize is a two man sailing dingy and the transom is not designed to take the load of an outboard so even though the structure looks strong enough its attachment to hull may require strengthening.

I’m not a.motorboat boy!
If exploring the coast, either to the north or the south then to be able to tap into the engines thrust is supportive, if mooring for the night. Or exploring the Farne Isles, Holy island or venturing down to Whitby, or to Amble or Berwick. Most of the time I intend being under sail but how would you negotiate the entry into the moorings at say Whitby. Are you allowed to sail up the Tyne?
Having 5 nights away under an erected tarp is fine. I enjoy painting although Procreate is supportive of capturing the atmosphere. Anchored up could give me the best viewpoint whilst capturing the light.
Yes I want more fun on the water and to fulfil those dreams then perhaps one does need a small power unit on board. The rear does need strengthening and doesn’t appear strong enough to support anything above 2hp.
I am now in possession of a yam 2.5hp and a 4hp engine!
I shall offer my experiences to the forum in due course.
Fishing from a dinghy, is that viable? Wired up to a transducer below.
That enterprise will be serving many functions but I also have a bright orange Pico with Mylar race sails, another boat to bring into play.
The PH Delphin Kayak could also be following closely behind. This is the demon of the surf!
Even considering bringing a 12 kg electric scooter with me also for transport at those locations. Presently looking for a large enough dry bag.
I love being on the water or besides it, could my birth sign be influencing this?
Thank you all for you comments and advice

I used to be able to row like that. Big heavy wooden boats on Windermere and Derwent water.
3 kids in the back and the boat was aqua planning for over a mile.

If you resin in a thick 20mm piece ply with fiberglass Matt you could go up to 10-15hp .....Now wouldn't that be a sight to behold an enterprise dinghy doing about 8-10 knots

Do you really think that sailing from Berwick to Holy Island then exploring the Farne islands & Seahouses,in something like an Enterprise is really the safe option for cruising that area?
I have only actually sailed the area twice, but was sent to live in Tweedmouth as a youngster & later had a holiday home there in the 80s/ 90s. I spent hours staring out to sea & watched the fishing boats rolling in to Eyemouth, Berwick & Seahouses.
No way would I want to be out there in an Enterprise on my own.
Great in a Hanse 311 with 2 reefs & 25kts though :D

One picks one’s days!
Is the North Sea to be feared on tranquil days?
We can opt for captive reservoirs where everyone pirouettes in the same direction and are saved from the blustery wind by topography of the sheer banks. Thinking of one in Yorkshire.
From some of the sailing clubs they are teaching youngsters in that very water, in stable crafts.
An Enterprise needs to be understood if sailing alone since the sail area can be overpowering.
It’s an old boat with sealed buoyancy compartments filled with cheap plastic balls in case they are ruptured.
Have you not seen teens racing around the needles with the spinnaker thrusting them along,, exceeding 20 knots?
Children, well under 16 they are, sailing toppers single handedly, skimming the waves at full pelt?
Do we all not seek exhilaration from the sport?
I have a 45 year old 26 foot sail boat classed as an ocean racer. I think it is calculated to be 1.8 where all those below 2 have that title.
Imagine that in the middle of the Atlantic with a pressure system bearing down. The Enterprise is being used as an inshore boat.
It’s worth googling. See if that dinghy is considered safe offshore.
For sailing alone I have sails with a reduced area.
Even the Pico is very mild mannered.
On you tube there are videos showing the waters which the P H Delphin excels in. They are seeking the waves and the white water. Even skipping through rock pools on an incoming tide.
In October they gathered many members to sail the North Sea back to Tynemouth. The qualifications required was to have a basic knowledge. In Kayaks.
If we desire to take the exhilaration from it then where is the fun?

I have a decent scroll saw for those very jobs. A brushless Hegner."…. Now just need a support stand for it but with this all intricate shapes can be cut. New panels fitted extending its life to that magic 100. 8-10, I would say 12-15…… It’s curved hull minimises the contact with the water.

Resin must have saved so many Enterprises!
