What is the furthest North you've ever sailed?

Cape Nordkinn, N 71 degrees and bit. That's cheating, as I was on a commercial ship.

It does allow me to say the weather was as cold and uninviting as Portland harbour on a wet and windy Thursday in August Bank Holiday week. It was midnight and there was snow. Come to think of it, isn't it midnight and snowing quite a bit of the time in Portland?

One balmy summer in the late 80s I sailed a Jag 22 up the west coast of Scotland from Troon to Stornaway.

Fjaerland in Sognefiord, Norway 64N24 approx. Fjaerland is Norway's Hay on Wye. We went there as we had read all our books once too often. Two or three days later we motored down to Flam keeping in the shade of the cliffs to keep cooler.
