My Achilles 24 is 30+years old, during this time the interior woodwork has become very dark with repeated coats of teak oil but still in very good condition. What is the best way to remove this in preparation for repainting or varnishing.

There is no "best" method - only a variety of methods which you can experiment with. Solid wood is generally easier than faced ply as the latter is usually only a thin veneer and will not cope with any aggressive treatment such as belt sanding, particularly if it is a vertical surface. Oils are not good to use as they often leave a sticky residue and absorb dirt from the atmosphere. A good start would be to try one of the teak cleaners - I am using one from Wessex chemicals which seems to work OK. That will get the muck out of the grain, but you may then find it discoloured and patchy, so Oxalic acid, which you can get from the same place will bring the wood back to an even colour. Some light sanding and scraping may be needed on stubborn bits. You may then have to use a wood dye to get matching colours of the surfaces if you want to finish clear. Satin finish polyurethane finishes are probably best if the grain and colour is attractive. If not then consider a sealing coat of varnish and then white or cream paint on panels and just finish the trim bright. Will make the cabin look bigger and brighter.

If you are going to paint it, and it was Danish Oil, just go ahead. It says on the tin it can be used as a primer.

It seems you can paint over teak oil as well
Teak Oil may be used over the following Rustins Wood Dye, Rustins Grainfiller, and
Rustins Woodfiller . The dye may also be added to the Teak Oil(max 30%), which may also be
used as a wood primer before applying undercoat. Rustins Polyurethane Varnish may be
applied over Rustins Teak Oil at any time. The surface must be clean before varnishing.
