At the risk of being called an ignoramous, I've just used 'no nails' to fix battens to my cabin roof so that I can screw the head lining to them. Seems really solid but time will tell.
I have never had any luck fixing stuff to GRP with hot melt ( I was thinking of pads for wiring) Do you use a particular glue? I just get the stuff from Wickes or B & Q either transparent or white, as available. It would be handy if i could use something..Top Tip for gluing battens over head or holding anything temporarily, apply adhesive of your choice to the batten ie polyurethane goop, epoxy etc.
Leave a few gaps in the adhesive, Have a hot glue gun ready to go, put a squirt of hot glue in the gaps & hold to the ceiling.
In a very short time you can let go & the hot glue will hold long enough for the adhesive to set, Or you can fibreglass over the battens.
