What is the best protected Anchorage in the south?

. you can sneak closer in to brownsea island watching depths to avoid strongest flow, alternatively pick tide time and hea up to ARNE/shipstal point where there are a couple of deep pools, little current and well protected.

Is it just me that finds anchoring here quite spooking? Somewhat like the western coasts of the Isles of Scilly.

The area you have circled is full of moorings, including mine. There’s not a lot of swinging room in that area and plenty of ground tackle to hook. Not an easy area to anchor

I don't disagree, but it's about the only place with any sort of depth that the OP is looking for.

What is the best place to hole up with 3G on the south coast? Just trying to think of a free anchorage that does not require me to move if the wind moves.

There was a thread a couple of years ago regarding anchoring above the bridge in Yarmouth. The seemingly more informed posts suggested this was permissible.
