In my searching for a boat I have seen many advertising
"Remote control air conditioning in Master Cabin".
Being on such a boat yesterday, I asked the broker to explain what it was but he couldn't ... so put me out of my misery what is it?

Literally a hand held remote control, like your TV which you point at the a/c unit or panel and adjust temp etc. Most ceiling units do this now as it's cheaper and easier to fit than a remote wall mounted panel.

another type of \"remote\"

In addition to other comments here, note also there is a concept of "remote" aircon whereby the compressor is located remotely (eg in lazerette) and only the evaporator is in the cabin. The two are connected by fine bore high pressure copper pipe.

This can be contrasted with the other sort of aircon, where both compressor and evaporator are together in one combined unit in the cabin. Obviously you wd have several of these in a large boat.

The remote compressor type is "better" ie considered more upmarket, becos it is quieter - the compressor is the noisey bit. The latter type works just as well but is cheaper to fit and a bit noisier in the cabins

MarineAir also offer the facility of allowing you to turn on/off the heating/cooling via your boat's phone line. Thus you can have your boat nice and warm or cool whan you arrive
