Every now and again the phrase ‘mornington crescent pops up on here, although I’ve been a member here almost since the off I have no idea what it means, please explain

The connection is that there was a recording studio near the tube station of that name, and the unfathomable (boating connection?) rules of the game are as fluid as the ocean. A bit like when Tony Hancock would be drawn into playing some game against Bill Kerr which he could never win because the rules would be adjusted against him...It's a running joke from the radio four comedy programme "I'm sorry I haven't a clue".
You should tune in and listen, it's funny and the rules will soon become clear.
