As "Toscana's" first birthday (since I have owned her) draws near, I feel it only right to share with all you admirable forumites What I have learnt in a year of boating.
Hours Clocked this year
=254
Miles logged
= 3140

So what have I learnt?
a) Weather Forecasts are generally rubbish, especially when they come from the Met Office.
b) Boat cleaning stuff that does not have "Toxic, Poisonous, Harmful, Lethal,Highly Flammable or Corrosive on it will NOT work!
c) A boat is never clean.
d) A boat is only somewhere near being tidy when you unlock the door on Friday Night and when you leave on Sunday night, in between it is total carnage all the time.
e) Boat cleaning things that say " Dillute one cap in 1 gallon of water" will not make any differnce unless you tip the entire bottle in.
f) "Concentrated Boat Shampoo" is no differnt to bubble bath.
g) How ever cheap Red diesel may be it is still stupidly expensive.
h) Nothing on a boat is easy
i) There is no point in fitting a wind gauge to a MoBo.
j) The boat parked next to you is allways nicer than yours.
k) Allways lob out all your anchor chain, just in case!
l) A Blind Mongoose could have designed a more user serviceable boat.
m) Nothing on a boat is cheap.
n) There is a cheaper way to buy screws than "Holt Marine Pre Packed Screws" from the Chandlery
o) Never go on a really nice boat because you will be depressed for weeks afterwards.
p) However bad you are at boat handling there is allways someone worse.
q) NOBODY seems to have the first clue about Sound Signals, especially dinghy sailors in Chichester harbour.
r) A boat only has two engines so it costs you more to maintain.
s) Sevicing 2x 63p's takes well over a week.

TO BE CONTINUED!!!! TOMORROW

Moose, I glad you have admitted your wind thinghy is good..... I agree with most of the following, but you missed the bits about SWMBO's are always right when they are around and always wrong when out of ear shot....

You forgot that when a forum meeting mentions BBQ it really means having a water fight in manically driven dinghies
