What has Santa brought you

A new, old lorry to play with and a small plasma cutter which runs of a mains supply instead of 3 phase so I can use it anywhere.

My TIG welder includes a plasma cutter, great fun once you have set it up correctly, the ultimate boy's toy for the restoration enthusiast :encouragement:

Or a grandson! … I was only kidding but have already taken your previous advice and decided to get a Rocna … unless anyone can suggest a better one! …..
Well, I didn’t want to say but...at the last Cannes boat show there was this exhibit by another new generation anchor manufacturer. Now I honestly don’t remember the name, I think I deliberately blocked it out of my mind because I had just spent €500 on my new Rocna (or was it the pretty young lady who was demonstrating that distracted me?). Anyhow they had a tray of sand and two toy anchors, one a Rocna and the others their own brand. When I pulled the chain of the little Rocna it went through the sand (my preferred media for anchoring) very easily. But their anchor was very difficult to pull even though it was only about three inches big!
The lady told me it was because of the Rocna’s roll bar (but I didn’t understand that) what I did notice was their anchor had a weighted toe. I asked if these were genuine scale models and she said yes.
So, the moral of the story is, while I do stand by my beloved Rocna, there are other new generation anchors out there

Mantus and Ultra … you could buy another boat for the price of an Ultra! Whether either would fit on our bows without employing engineering I don't know. Your idea of a bigger roller for the Rocna sounds a good one … have you found one yet? I also will only be anchoring in sand and I doubt if overnight at all any more. Either a mooring or a marina for me these days!

not a good idea to turn a thread into an anchor war, but my 20kg Mantus hasn't dragged yet (2 seasons, maybe 100 drops)

curious what that other anchor was Bouba *not that I'm planning to change mine after spending almost 500euro iirc!

cheers

My search for a bigger roller has gone off the boil for now but it’s always on the back burner so to speak. But now you’ve brought it up......

Vas, if I had to guess I would say spade or a variation of a spade

Ha! All you need is a good Bruce and a full funlocker. Just ask Roy, I pushed him off the beach once :p
Brucek anchor won’t drag as his fun box is always empty ,where mine is full on the first night on the hook and empty when Bruce has been on board
