The record thread on jets was I think educational to a lot of people, certainly I learnt a lot from it.

I chose not to go that route because:-

1. I was not confident of the long term viability of the project.... hence faced a large deprecation hit.

2. I was not too impressed with the look of the boat.

I very much admired the brave attempt and still do.

Hi

are these the pilot boats that were advertised on back cover of boats and yachts etc?

I really fell for these had a look at them but felt that they were quite expensive, albeit probably worth the extra money, but wasnt sure about the secondhand market.

I seem to recall saying they were utterly pig ugly imho and having that post pulled, becuase of some complaint by Cara with the word legal in it

Even Gludy, who was very keen on the jets and many other aspects, has not bought one due partly to the ugliness.

Gotta call a spade a spade, they were unbelieveably ugly machines imho and boat builders need to wake up and smell coffee - aesthetics are crucially important. Anyway, it now looks like the wider market has proved the point

Anyone know how many have been built and sold so far? bout 4 or 5 would be my guess

Inwards marine have a couple of Hunton Gazelle 43 's with twin jet drives for sale. Both used in a film due to be released early next year. They look absolutely fantastic. One of the boats has been left in it's original film colours of Black hull and brown/grey deck and the other is black hull and white deck.

The black and white one is almost as new on the outside but needs refitting internally. I believe 80-90k will buy it and probably needs 20k spent to bring it up to top notch. Was very tempted but SWMBO didn't see it as a family friendly boat. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

Huge jet drives fitted to Yanmars if my memory serves me correctly. Winter project anyone?
