What hand saw do you carry aboard

The other has an extension from the handle which grips the blade further along. Thus you have a section of the blade gripped in two places like a conventional hacksaw, and also a section gripped only at one end.

Pad saw/Pad handle. Useful for cutting rusty bolts and hose clips in tight spaces e.g. around an engine.
 
I have a Stanley fine cut hand saw for the occasional "making things from wood". Being flat it takes up little room and I give it a spray of WD40 after every use. Had it for about eight years now.

Yes, years ago and I didn't like it. The problem was the thickness of the blade which made it hard work, removing more material than you really needed to. Maybe OK for odd jobs, but I'd suggest separate hacksaw and wood saw. Don't forget spare blades for the hacksaw!

Ahh yes I remember I had one years ago and never used it for the same reasons. Went for one of these in the end https://www.toolstation.com/tri-cut-pull-saw/p17458

Its very compact fine enough for delicate work but also good on larger sections. The pull action is very nice to use and it takes up no room with the handle detached. Also keeping the hacksaw of course.
 
Swiss Army. Knife did it for me when the bracket for the mast raising support no longer fitted. NI why. Cut a piece out about 80mm long time in 50mm timber. It was at its limit and a bit slow, but quicker and cheaper than going and buying a saw. I also keep wood blades for my junior hacksaw. Not a lot of wood that I would want to be cutting on my boat.
