What does your harbour master do for you?

Re: Simple answer!

That's more like it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif and don't forget the anti anti foul sand banks too /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Too being woke up at 1000 asking it I am a local boat and then say "thats all right Sir,being local you wont have to pay good day" T****r.

Hmm ... I take it that wasn't in Chichester - where you have to display a plaque on the port quarter that indicates you've paid your dues ...

So if there is nothing to indicate that you are local how can the T****r know?! Do you have similar system of indicating that?

Then put a sticker on the starboard side saying "Look the other side before waking me" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Simple answer!

Yep , absolutely terrible round here , badly contaminated water is only one problem , well akshully it's brown cos you can see the bottom which means I suppose that it is a very thin layer of water in places , although my HH gps at home shows me at -6ft to sea level , but we don't seem to get stressed out the same way as the South coast boaters do , everything's more relaxed here

Besides ensuring that the Beaulieu remains the beautiful river that it is. The harbour staff take more interest in the boats than many of the owners, regularly checking unattended craft, particularly those out on the river. They are always on hand to go and see that the gas is off, or batteries are isolated, or whatever. And when you live 200M from your boat that's pretty reassuring.

Do you leave your boat unlocked then? Or do they have a set of keys....

We've got some mooring holders near us who think that a 10mm 3 strand line is more than enough to secure their boat ... and the harbour office only issues guidelines rather than dictate a suitable minimum ... I'm quite happy with guidelines, except the 10mm lines have been known to part on a far more regular basis.
