What do you use to polish up your white gel coat?

I use the Yachticon product which does much the same thing. Depending on the newness of the hull, an abrasive polish may or may not be needed. Most years I just use a wax and sealant, except for the stern which has been a bit affected by the sun, where I use Starbrite Colorback polish, which takes of a little more than the standard stuff.

Stain removal: Oxalic Acid
Shine / Polish: Farcela fine cut polish / Autoglym Super Resin polish ~£15-17
Protection : UV Wax = Farecla Profile UV Wax ~ £17

Sound good?

Edit: only problem is that I wont be able to get the Polish/Wax on in time before the boat goes back into the water. Will have to go around in the dinghy in the marina to do that. Not ideal.

S/S I use an ordinary metal polish, 3Ms I think. The mast and boom don't need an abrasive polish but just wax after a detergent wash.

Hello Jolly Rodgers,
Last year I was going spare when trying to remove pollen stains from the deck area of my boat when a neighbour's wife came over and renewed my faith in the world when she gave me some 'Bar Keeper's Friend' which does have oxalic acid in. It comes now both in a liquid and a powder form. It worked a treat and is available in many supermarkets but I have had no trouble getting it from Waitrose. I now get the liquid version in a spray bottle and it removes seagull poo easily too. I wash off with fresh water then polish with Auto Glym. Hope that helps, Cheers, Kevin
