What do you make of this?

Re: Torquay solution

It's called jettisoning to get more speed. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it does actually happen.

Ah! having your name on as CC to: you doesnt implicate you at all - simply means what it says - a copy has been sent to you. Sorry, but the way I read your original post, I understood the letter had included your name as a signatory, which would be well out of order. As to the problem, I still feel its a bit harsh to lay the entire blame on the marina management who do seem to be trying to do something about it.

Re: Owl at Port Solent

Yes, we were at Port Solent at the weekend.

The bird is actually a falcon (under the control of a falconer I would hastily add!) and does a few rounds a day to keep unwanted birds away.

Whats more it works!!!

Well done Premier for taking the iniative.

Mind you, if the starlings aren't there - I wonder where they go?

Cheers

Re: Typical of todays blame culture

Can we stop using the term pooping, it does not make it any cuter or more palitable. If you can't write sh**ing then at least crapping is more in line with the average age of the forum.

they are still shite hawks. Luckily I don't suffer too badly, even in Padstow this year where idiots feed the damn things by your boat. I have slightly grey decks which is supposed to have some effect, but I don't know why.

There's a "seagull scarer" on the top of the marina office building in one of the Hamble marinas - can't remember which one though - that gives of quite a noise. However, other than being a nuisance to skippers and crew dozing in cockpits after lunch, the seagulls seem to be blissfully oblivious to it. The last time i visited about a dozen of them were lined up on the roof top and weren't put out at all.

On the other hand they made ideal target practice, but I suppose that's not on.
