Not asking about the usual safety kit i.e. life raft etc, but other crap taking up locker space. I feel the need to thin out the accumulation of stuff that has never or rarely been used for coastal sailing.
Do I need to carry my underwater inspection camera case? battery drill?
My tool bag now weighs a ton and needs a thin out.
Bits of hose, spare fittings, can of screws, and all manner of bits and pieces.
Big sail bag of “spare ropes”
I’m even eying up the rarely used outboard and inflatable for removal back home into the boat shed.
I reckon I could gain a knot in boat speed and an inch of freeboard with the weight removal!
I will admit to a slight hoarding tendency and slight paranoia about things I might need….but for coastal sailing?
I feel a big declutter coming on this autumn.
