What day for painting?

Which day would you choose for applying Toplac? Today is warmer,overcast and breezy but rain tonight but tomorrow is cooler,sunny but dry in the evening. I'm tempted to think today?

Either day should be OK. Look up the touch dry time on the data sheet, if it doesn't rain by then you'll be OK (unless you have a real downpour).

Its a bit late but

Warm, overcast might mean high humidity (or it would here) and warmth (this is relative) means the any surface coating sets off more quickly and is less easy to work with. Rain in evening might be early and moisture is a killer. Contrarily cool gives more time to work and sunny and dry sound ideal. So I'd be inclined to do the opposite to your suggestion as long as the overnight rain dries out quickly enough.

Today will be OK provided you are finished in time for it to be touch dry by mid evening

I'd think tomorrow the better choice in so much that the relative humidity will be lower and not predicted to rise appreciably until late evening. Also being slightly cooler will extend the drying time a little .


Theres always a risk though that by tomorrow the forecast might not be so good

The last couple of weeks has been brilliant for painting. I've been waiting for painting weather since October and have now finished (apart from AF).

This year I'm leaving it late. I'm fed up taking a month to do a weeks work.

She was going to come out today so we could work over the bank holiday, but have decided to leave it a few weeks. Mind you she does look a bit fury down below and it doesn't seem to get washed off by sailing, so it's not going to be long before the lift ....

I did it on Saturday.It turned out ok but seemed to be drying too quick. I guessed but it was about 20% thinners. The shaded side was much better but any more thinners and it would have been too 'watery'. The wind picked up too which didn't help.
I reckon the ideal is about lunchtime,very gentle breeze,cloudy/sunny spells and about 17 degrees with 10 or 20% thinners.
