What bedding compound for new acrylic hatch screen on dark hardwood?

I need to attach my new acrylic hatch screen to its dark hardwood frame. What bedding compound would the panel recommend?

Brown CT1. If you ever need to remove it a knife run between the acrylic and the wood will cut through the bond.

You can cut the seam in the highly unlikely event you would ever want to remove it intact. No reason to need to remove it other than replacing it in maybe 20 years time as I shall shortly be doing on a similar construction hatch where if necessary I will cut it off.

But not so permanent that it can't be cut with a knife, as Tranona points out; or with a padsaw.

My forehatch consists of a simple wooden frame with a piece of 12mm acrylic laid on top and held in place with woodscrews and cup washers. I think Captain Crisp's is likely to be similar.

To maintain an even thickness of CT1 I used small rubber o-rings; one around each woodscrew between the acylic and the frame.

If I ever need to remove the acrylic intact, all I have to do is remove the woodscrews and cut through the CT1 and the rubber o-rings.

I decided not to seal mine, I screwed it. Didn’t want to see the squished sealant from the outside:

If you use Butyl tape, fit a stainless washer at each fixing point between the cabin and the acrylic, so the Butyl tape does not get squeezed out.

Good point.

My forehatch is basically a 5-sided box with the acrylic sheet forming the fifth, and largest, side.

Being fixed with screws and an adhesive/sealant, it contributes greatly to the structural strength of the whole assembly.
