I have the last week in June and First week in July off then possibly another fortnight in August perhaps. So first trip is looking like Ipswich to Hellevoetsluis to Flushing then Ostend, then in August (fortnight) I quite fancy a trip to Wells for a bit of beer and loafing. Any chance this could develope into a cruise in company? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks like we're making Wells one of our first trips, but from the opposite direction, and after a few trips around the Wash. Then a bit later heading South and see what happens.
But as Roger says, it's all so dependant on what happens with weather and everything else

looks like the Mercury meet 9/10 May, which i shall probably convert into nearly 2 weeks....depending on the weather...

then scabbing any free loading trips aboard any raggie vessels that invite me /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

no idea yet....

Will be going to Barcelona for a fortnight in the summer to stay with my absent parents..... was gutted at missing a potential fortnight's summer cruising, but then they offered to pay for everything.... and suddenly the pain was lessened /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Our remaining A/L will probably be consumed in English waters this year.... want to head north a little, plus visit the Kent coast, which we have been strangely shy of for the last few seasons....

Assuming:

- boat's finished on time
- health allows
- weather's OK
- next posting also in Britain

Two options:
- Either head south - Scilly Isles or Channel Islands & Normandy (again). Depends on the weather.
- Or (preferred option) head north -> Shetland Islands. Harwich - Lerwick non-stop. Hang around for 2 weeks and come back non-stop.

When: July-August
Like I said, lots of assumptions.

I am assuming another poor summer with cruising limited to a few snatched days here and there, leaving the boat places and going back for it and another year of disappointment and frustration.

Anything else will be a bonus.

I am an optimist by nature.

Was going to join a c-in-c from Brighton to Fecamp and up the French coast but the way things are going at work at the moment plus the poor euro make that a bit of a non starter.

Have the opportunity for a 2 month cruise (RNSA 75th anniv cruise - B'sea to Scillies and loads of places in between) in 2010 so busy saving up to be able to do that. This year I may end up snatching what I can that is cheap. Planning to do Ostend at end of May.

I want to do some longer solo passages - start with about 24 hours and work up from there so I may be heading north up the English coast. In 1986 when I was in the RN we took the ship back to Swan Hunters and I had a run ashore in Sunderland with a Policeman friend - quite like to go back as he is still about there somewhere - things won't have changed much will they? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Having been over to Holland for the last two years, we were thinking Northern France & Channel Islands.
We only got as far west as Honfleur in our last boat so getting that little bit further would be good.
Then again, it's a holiday and not a delivery trip. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Having been to Holland for the first time last season, SWMBO wants to go back for a longer visit this season. We will be in Ipswich for April, hoping to head off to Oostende direct from Harwich as soon as weather is OK (hopefully mid/late April).

We then are hoping to head down to Brittany via CI's or French coast. If anyone would like to join us for either they'd be most welcome.

I can definitely feel a Newcastle trip coming on - fast one way and slow the other and maybe Ostend too.

I think I can get six weeks from mid june through july so long as I come back to show my face on a couple key dates. Practicalities, or otherwise!, of dog passports (see thread so named on scutts) means no France, so looks like south coast, maybe CI, Cornwall, Scillies, back along south coast.

If its like last year we are not staying in Dover and Littlehampton for days. We have yet to decide if our attitude will be "do or die whatever" and push on or give up come home and go to Thomas Cook

Well the wife and I are planning a trip from York via Hull to Lowestoft and, weather permitting of course, across to Oostende. Sounds easy when you say it quickly but ...it' will be our first trip at sea in our rather ancient Marine Projects 33. Only got twin Ford 80's on shafts so at a cruising speed of 8 knts reckon on a month away at least. If it all goes pearshaped then there's always the Broads I guess...
