What annoys you about your boat?

Foam in the mast

Not a good idea to fill it with foam . Most soak up water . You can put a tube down with cables inside or use cable ties but don't cut the ends off . These will hold the cables tight if you put three together in a triangle formation . You only need them every 1m or so . Also if you use foam and want to pul another cable through you will have problems .

Rattling cables? ... Get a solid wooden mast - then you won't have that particular problem :-)

Things that annoy me about my boat? ... The fact that the hull fails significantly in it's responsibility to keep salty water on the side with all the fishes in it.

Having sold our Cobra 850 as we weren't using her as much as we would have liked, we were officially 'without boat' for an entire week. SWMBO and I agreed that a smaller boat that I could keep on a swinging mooring in Brightlingsea would be the solution. So we trawled the various sites Apollo Duck etc etc etc and we eventually found a Hurley 22 that needed a little bit of TLC and a few minor upgrades (she has been ashore for the past year in a yard near Rainham). We have spent the past couple of weeks going to and fro working on her and she is now ready for going back afloat once again.

So what is annoying me about my boat?

Simple...Why on earth didn't I look at Hurleys many years ago? For a 22 footer they are quite roomy little boats and the lines are quite pleasing to the eye.

Oh, and the other thing that is annoying me about her...why can't today be Friday when we will be sailing her back from Rainham to Brightlingsea?

Today it's a flat calm out there, so Friday might be better...
On Friday we might see you - we are heading out of the East Swale and going to the Crouch, might see you in the Swin perhaps? White 31-footer, 'Cornsilk'.

We will look out for you...White H22 (looking at the forecast Southerly, so with a Blue and White Cruising chute!) 'Huldra'. Hope to be away from Mariners Farm Boatyard at about 10.00 ish!!

Might be a bit ahead of you - hoping to squeeze out of our (mud) berth in Oare Creek by about 1100, so Columbine area by midday-ish, SW Barrow by 1400-ish. Could all go wrong, though, if the tide doesn't make, we'll be leaving at 2300 instead for a night passage........
A southerly sounds nice but I will believe it when I see it!:)
