What an arse!

Paul,
Explain this for me please
"I am not ripping anyone off except possibly the buyers on Ebay, but then again, "

How would ebay view this?

[/ QUOTE ]

Quite frankly eBay couldn't care less. Whilst what Paul is doing is legit fraud and scamming is rife on eBay and they do s*d all to stop it. Here's some - took 30 seconds to find them.

eBay ID has been scammed and used for posting items he does not have - see what else is being sold

Hello again, just keeping you all updated with the Ebay issue and this matter in general:

The two Ebay members who have bid on the guides with no intention of paying have been reported to Ebay under the two policy headings that they are breaking. Ebay cannot tell me the outcome due to privacy reasons, but I have read through the policies concerned and each one carries a minimum penalty of a warning and a maximum penalty of account closure, my personal opinion is that both the accounts will be suspended for between 1 week and 1 year. I would also like to add that when ending any item on Ebay you automatically give your postage address and telephone number to the seller (whether or not you actually pay). I will let you decide if that is a threat or not. I will not be stopping listing these guides on Ebay - I am committing no breach of copyright or breaking any law of any kind. I am quite sure of that. The members who think I am 'skating on thin ice', are just wrong. I have an invoice from the RNLI which arrived with my last order and have checked with Revenue and Customs that I am not liable for any tax for two reasons - 1.) They do not currently tax low scale internet transactions unless you are a registered/ltd company 2.) I am not liable to be taxed as I am currently awaiting a claim for 2 types of benefit. To be honest I think the RNLI member that mentioned that was taking the piss anyway. Sorry if this post seems malicious or malevolent in any way, but I disagree with almost all of you completely and I am struggling to see your point of view. I keep repeating that I am not preventing people receiving these guides and therefore I am not wasting any cash that people have donated. I am merely redistributing them - adding another middle-man to the process. I can see that that is what you are irritated about but you are failing to understand that I am not doing any harm, maybe being a little cheeky as suggested by mystique, but nothing more. Thanks again, Paul

Forgot to add, all future listings of these guides on Ebay will either:

1.) Be private listings so that you are unable to contact the winning bidders.

2.) Will require immediate payment via Paypal (BUY IT NOW listings only) so any more jokers like the previous two will be forced to pay if they wish to remove the listing.

Keep your eyes peeled the next couple of days guys...

A few hundred of us could always post 1p buy it now listings with postage and packing at cost, and yours would be buried in the deluge of postings.

Can't really be bothered, but will keep an eye out, and if you get silly, will make sure we make a response.

With you on that one Brendan , I'm willing to upload about 200 a day at 1p each , but will follow as things progress

er , Paul

do you intend making ALL your items restricted , you could be out of business quicker than you think , and all for the sake of ONE item

Not sure you understand the concept of restricted on Ebay. I would only make these guides anonymous, not other items. Not too bothered if you email buyers of my other items as they won't care less.

so if all your other products were bought by those protesting about a single item , and refused to pay on the grounds that you were acting immorally elsewhere

see my point ?

it's one item , out of all the other things you sell , drop one item , end of argument

You've admitted you aren't concerned about the ethics, and RNLI have said they cannot do anything, which is why I'm approaching from a different angle.

I'm very sure you realise that if we swamped ebay with 1p buy now listings at cost price p&p, you would see no revenue at all, and that would be very easy to organise.

ah, yes but that would certainly lead to your account closure and I would be refunded any costs that I may have incurred, so that would not affect me apart from having to relist the items, but I have them all saved as templates anyway. So no I will not be dropping the item

Yes, this is the only way you could stop me selling them Brendan. But you would have to do it consistently for the next couple of years and if you are serious about it you will also incur Paypal fees, listing fees, final value fees, P&P fees etc. So you would be making a loss if you sold at anything less than a pound. I can match that if not beat it as I receive discounted postage and free packing materials. I also have a business Paypal account so I could beat your prices easily (unless you were prepared to make a loss).

I can see that there are 100 people browsing the forum at 1 in the morning, so I am not making any assumptions of the sort. I am prepared to end each and every one of your Ebay accounts if necessary, not many of you would actually use and risk your Ebay accounts to break Ebay policies in the first place though

hee hee, many here are existing pay pal sellers, or have companies and have access to discounted materials and postage, and many would take a hit just to stop you as a bit of a game, to stop something they think unethical.

It won't take many forumites here, we all just put several on a month in rota. Just enough to swamp any you are posting.

Is it worth the hassle?
