....arrogant bunch the Royal Lymingtin Yacht Club are!

They arrived in St Vaast just after the MBM Rally left (not a bad bunch of stinkies really, even the crew of Calm Voyager)

Imagine the peace shattered first by the Stinkies then this lot!

To be fair everyone prefered the stinkies!

The RLYC attitude to others was downright rude.

We attempted to greet a couple of them with "good evening", the only reply was "don't forget colours chaps" Even a couple from Lymington Yacht club decided to write to complain about their attitude!

To top it all a couple of them were in Cherbourg - (until they dissapeared out of the harbour in fog, vis less than 50 metres)!

So listen out for the radio chatter (that was a laugh) look out for the Defaced Red Ensign - (taken down a dusk) and the general mayhem and noise should you be lucky enough that they decend on you.

Write and complain to the Secretary with dates, location and time. There are some very good sailors at RLYC who don't deserve to be tarred with the same brush as these arrogant wasters!

Incidentally, if you follow the practice of the RN, who should know, you should wear your ensign at all times in a foreign port to indicate the ships country of origin/registration. I am told, but do not have personal experience, that in parts of Spain they treat it as an offence if you take your colours down at night.

On the other hand, in Den Helder, where the marina is run by the Dutch navy and in a military port, they hand you out a leaflet in English telling you that you must take down your ensign at sunset.

If you can\'t beat \'em ...

There is nothing like a crowd of serious raggies in a French port, for a rave. Sounds like when a JOG race descends.

Hell for bystanders but huge fun if you are part of it.

I have sympathy with you, a few years ago came across the same club similar behaviours... strangely enough on the same cruise came across several white ensigned yachts and they were friendly and quiet it made the contrast to RLYC quite startling!!! I agree though with the comment about dropping a line to their sec though...
