a helpful chandlers. Being fed up with a certain grumpy lot on the South Coast who make you feel like they are doing me a favour. (oh now then what's their name) What a pleasure to walk into Pumpkin Marine in Northney to a smile and good old fashioned service.

Highly Recommended

I recently purchased a handheld VHF from them via mail order and the advice and service they gave me was excellent.

Don't know but must admit to not having seen them advertising until quite recently (this could be my own general lack of awareness!).

That PUMPKIN , I'm fairly certain, was absorbed by the 'CruiserMart/ Telesonic/LYC/Express Marine' consortium (Action Leisure PLC?) who went under earlier this year. I guess someone (like the original proprietors??) might have bought the name but doubt it is otherwise connected .

I've never found a 'grumpy' problem there??...........at least you can look around for 'hours' and never be harrased. Had a slight issue when I bought a GPS for £198, got home and found it advertised by them in PBO for £189, but quickly resolved (got a free antenna mount).

What about the two chandlers who used to be opposite each other on Queen Street!!

Incidentally, the chandler in EYH often comes up with 'small bits' when the other has failed.

I'll leave people to make their own judgement, I got fed up with lots of men in the shop all a bit to busy to deal with customers - As for the two in Queen Street - Old Ted sadly died some 3 years ago, "Ostar Marine" is now a flower shop - he was the best source for quaint odd sod nuts and bolts on the South Coast, The fella opposite "Emsworth Rigging" still does some works I think.
