Having sorted my new boat out, I am now selling my old one and I have fallen into the bear-pit that is eBay!!

Jeez - I have been plagued by so many time wasters asking to see the boat before bidding (..and that bit is fully understandable) and then not turning up. Its a 150 mile journey for me!

So I have withdrawn it from eBay - and I'm never going back there again. I've stuck it on boatsandoutboards instead.

Anone else had any similar eBay experiences?

yep, me. had people ringing, emailing then not bidding. then the bloke who wins (was new and just trying it out) doesn't contact me... upshot is manages to get in touch on the phone... "um...ah... oh... yes i still want it... um.... what is it again... um... i'l be down friday..... saturday.......... next week................ um.....

he came all the way from oxford, took one look and said "oh.... it's a long shaft"

(which bit of longshaft outboard for sale didn't you get then?)

if he'd told me on the phone that he didn't want it i could have offered it to the other bidder. problem solved, now iv'e still got it... iv'e done the service and it runs sweet as a nut. so i'm keeping it for aanother project. £160 for a good 30hp outboard seemed cheap to me..... his loss.

but during this time tried to contact Ebay, no help whatsoever, so you take your chances i'm affraid. many others seem to get on fine though, Byron has advertised stuff there, maybe worth asking his opinion.... he's bound to have one!

you will have better luck on boats and outboards, very good site. recommended.

steve.

Yep! I put my old Rotavator on Ebay last week, a bloke asked if he could come and see it, he then bid and bought it. Ooops! I suppose you just want bad experiences?
