Moon

We were commenting on this in the pub tonight. Apparently, the moon's perigee, the distance from the moon to the earth, is the closest for nearly two decades, hence the spectacular rising moon tonight.

See other threads. It's not the perigee distance that matters as much as the perigee being directly opposite the sun. Perigee in January 2010 was only 15km further away.

What I noticed, over Burnham on Crouch, was the face on the moon. It was sooooooo clear!

It's been widely misinterpreted. As I have posted before, what's unusual is that we have a perigee at full moon. Perigees happen every lunar month - thirteen times per year.

I was sailing past Start Point on Saturday night - the moon rise looked absolutely amazing... Definitely the best I've seen for a long time!
