Yes there are a few things that i come to put on my must have lists and thats; Diesel inboard, the one thing other than what Nick mentioned is theft, many a moon ago i used to work with a guy who had a fishing boat on a swing mooring in Shoeburyness and he was saying then about new outboards being stolen and even the owners making new engines look old to deter the thieves. Single engine to keep costs down, although i do understand about the safety aspect, at least 25' and no more than 28' for the same reason. Speed wise i am not bothered, i have chartered a rib a couple of times from Essex Powerboat School where i did my courses and he was surprised how little fuel we used, purely because we did was not going mad and just enjoying the trip. The one thing i have learned is to look at a lot and take my time, there is also a couple more courses i would like to take too before we get out on the water properly.
