Reading threads here it seems a service kit (£11) for my ancient whale v pump (hand pump tap) is a bit of a gamble. For about £35 I could buy new. However it sounds like if I only use what I have with the electric pump it won't leak out the top, something I will test. However my electric pump switch is broken, which is why I have been hand pumping. My main question is what type of switch is it? (help me with my googling!). While you hold it in the pump runs, when you release pressure the pump switches off. What sort of switch is that? The term "push switch" hasn't helped me.

(Background info is that this is the small handbasin tap outside the heads that sees very little use, we brush our teeth in the main sink). (And I haven't fixed the electric switch before as it encourages people to use too much water :)). And if anyone has recently serviced an old Whale v pump and thinks it is worth doing do tell!

Normally open (NO) switch.
Lots here:
NO push switch
Just make sure it has an adequate current rating and select one to fit the hole of the broken switch. If it is IP67 waterproof it should last even longer.

Many thanks. I have learned something.
Meanwhile I opted to remove the switch completely as the tap still leaked irrespective of the manual or electric approach. (It was more leaky with manual but we elected that that was acceptable, as opposed to the potential excessive water use if we have the electric pump working.
