I have in my galley sink, a Whale Elegance set of taps like those pictured.

But I find that after a few months or a year, the spigot insert (also pictured) breaks and the tap doesn't work.
They're easily changed, but its so common I now have to carry spares aboard.

Anyone solved this apparent design fault?

I'm thinking to make one in something harder that the plastic these are made of, to increase the life.

I have the same tap but was not aware of a design fault. It is now 18 years old. I had one of the spigots sheer and replaced it with the standard part three years ago and no problem since.

I've not sheared one myself, but they shear. It could be that others (crew) might be forcing the tap off too hard? I installed these taps about 4 years ago and this month sheared the 5th stem.
