I am going into Weymouth this weekend, first time. Is it easy to get a berth on the visitors pontoon, or in the Marina? Is it possible to book? Your replies appreciated.

Don't think getting a visitors berth in the marina is difficult, probably best to phone. Certainly in the harbour it will not be a problem. Awful weather forecast though..................

Do'nt think they accept phone bookings, apparently it's on a first come basis. Other thing to be aware of is the bridge lift times.... do'nt run out of diesel just as you approach it, as I once did, but that's another story!

The marina - owned by the same people who run Haslar and East Cowes marinas - is situated above a lifting bridge. It opens at 2 hourly intervals!

I believe boats over 32 feet are directed to the north side of the harbour, us lesser mortals to the "Cove" on the south side. No need to book, Weymouth is never full, they just keep on rafting up until the Poole harbourmaster starts charging. Never used the marina. If eating out there is (or was) a good fish restaurant about halfway down the north quay towards the ferry. Called The Bistro or something like that. Or there are about 3 million fish and chip shops.

Hi, The lifting bridge opens every 2 hours on the even hour. Best to call Weymouth Harbour on Channel 12 about 1/4 hour before eta for instructions on who has priority inbound or outbound traffic under the bridge. Also call Weymouth Marina on Channel 80 for a berth. When you call Weymouth Harbour he can also guide you to a berth this side of the bridge if you so wish..Best restruants Sea Cow on the Starboard side of the Harbour or for pub grub the Pub on the Port side on the corner by the Cove.
Cheers
