One of my wife's friends lives on the hill at the East end of the bay. Apparently there's 5 of them with engines/generators running.

Lets hope we get the word that we can start sailing soon and I'll be able to get a closer look. I still need to get both sails up and finish general spring jobs first, though.

Yep, Cunard's Queen Mary2 and P&O's Aurora,Arcadia and Ventura, plus Oceana Tender 14 ( Bermudan flag)- quite a sight!

There are certainly some "once in a lifetime sights" in this year of our Lord 2020.

Reminds me of a picture of Thames Barges laid up on buoys in Woolwich in the 1930's.

They could still recover though. Perhaps people will say to hell with the mortgage, let's spend our savings and enjoy ourselves while we can. Currently, I'm giving the net a royal bashing with boatie goodies. Well you would at my age. ?

I'm glad I sold my Carnival shares a couple of years ago.

Really? The Saudi government have just bought $1.5Bn worth at rock bottom prices. With the US government saying that Carnival is considered too big to fail they could be a useful investment for 5 years time.

Also 100 shares will get you some useful discounts and on board credit when you sail with Cunard. P&O, Princess, Carnival, etc.

There’s another 15 or so anchored off the Bahamas. Their crews must be going nuts. We have just postponed our Ventura Christmas cruise - SWMBO who falls into the extra vulnerable category was concerned December would be too soon. We have now rebooked the same (Canaries) cruise for October 2021. Hope we survive that long!

The daughter of my wife's friend is a cadet on a container vessel. Basically, what started as a routine voyage in the Indian Ocean now look like being a trip round the world, as it's impossible to change crew because a) no-one will allow crew to land and b) even if they landed, there are no flights. The good news is that by the time she gets back to Hong Kong she'll have enough sea-time to do her 3rd Officer's ticket! The bad news is that contact with friends and family is rare and intermittent - basically, she only gets a phone signal when in close proximity to land.

We have watched the number of ships increase in the bay on our one hour walks over the last few weeks.

very soon we should be sailing around them using them as turning marks - Yippee!
