I've got a Wetline 220 rib and i think its max engine size says 3.7Kw / 40Kg. Has anyone tried one with a 15hp two stroke? Like this-

If it is certified with a maximum of 5 hp then it might not be a good idea to put 3 times that HP on it. If the recommendation is correct doubt you will find any sane person who has done what you propose.

Check the plate and certification document and don't exceed the maximum HP.

I ripped the transom off a nice Bombardier using a too big outboard, I was lucky and made it to a jetty on the remains , which stayed afloat. Lost/ruined all my gear though and sucking water, not air, at high revs didn't do the o/b any favours either..
Tripling the power sounds a bit risky to me!

Do you't need it. One of them will easily plane with 5 or 6hp. Once planing, you'll go like a train.

Extra hp is just extra weight

I have a 2.8m RIB rated to max 8hp which I started with. Planed OK with 2 adults but no more max speed 17kts.
Now running it with 15hp which planes OK with 3-4 adults and max speed 22kts.
Needs to be driven with care though.

I would but it's too much fun!!!!

Ok I don’t blame you.

So my one had a 15hp 2 stroke with a center console that I got from eBay. It went 24 knots and pulled a knee board with no problem, I did put the fuel tank up the front which helped.

I wish I could get another one, Haho enjoy.

Thanks

Richard
