Hello. I have just purchased a Westerly Storm 33 and wondered if any current or previous owners of Storms may have any handy tips, words of advice or general info that may be handy. It would be much appreciated as this is my first boat and I have limited experience.
Thanks in advance

Not really. Only the advice I would give to any Westerley owner - buy a Moody instead. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Congrats!

You can find in an old issue of Yachting World : how to get the best of your Storm 33.There is also a quite recent issue of Yachting Monthly on second hand Storm.

I owned a Storm 33 during 8 years I change the original mild steel diesel tank for a bigger stainless steel oneI had also to change the forward startboard silent block of the Volvo 3 times.I was delighted by this boat ;Which one did you buy and can you tell me the price

I bought my Storm OD in 2007 for £30k. T-Cup is located on the Medway.

I've been refurbishing her since I bought her so feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I might take a little while to reply though..

Only major problems with a 20 year old Storm are likely to be the headlining and osmosis.

Not suprising a Moody owner wouldn't be able to spell Westerly correctly/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Storm - a lovely boat, wise choice

Well pleased with "Walusotu" which I bought in Dubai and have since sailed to the Far East which is where she is at present. Lived aboard for several months at a time and continue to do so.

Performs well in heavy weather but always I reef early.

Headlining a bit of a disappointment but is almost 20 years old!!

Limited tankage (diesel/water) for long distance cruising - otherwise throughly pleased.

It's starboard. Fuel tank, batteries and cockpit locker on one side, horizontally challenged crew members on the other to even things up /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Headlinings are expensive, check Hawke House Marine website for details, they do Westerly Kits.

Another thing you might want to check is the exhaust hose loop under the engine, mine was almost rotted through undeneath and I replaced it with a Vetus water trap.
