Westerly paint job - bloody nora

There's a system of vinyl skinning isn't there, I wonder if the vinyl skin could be randomly patterned?

I believe they can print any image or pattern on it - you could have a photo of the missus if you wanted :)

Same stuff is used on vans, eg the Sky ones.

There used to be a small tub of a yacht painted in a somewhat similar fashion in the corner of our yard. Paint was much more amateurishly done though. That boat looked ****, this one looks quite good in an eccentric sort of way.

I met Rob (the owner) over in Arizona USA at the Lake Havasu Pocket Cruiser Convention in Feb 2012. As a fellow Westerly owner, he was excitedly talking to me of his plans for this Westerly Pageant that he had just purchased. He was hoping to move the rudder aft and put an outboard engine through the cockpit floor in a custom made inboard well, a bit like the Macgregors. It's hard to tell, but it looks as though the rudder is indeed now transom hung with a gap for the inboard. I took a tour round his 29' Aluminium 'pocket cruiser'... the largest to be trailered to the event. It was immaculate and full of innovative custom features that Rob had added. Impressive stuff. This paint job is a tad too 'Picaso' for my modest tastes though ;)

And to think: I worried that other westerly owners would ostracise me for replacing the tatty old red trim line on mine with a silver one

Don't worry.I did even worse.I lined the bulkheads with white painted plywood on my Fulmar and it transformed the interior into a light and airy one wereas before it was dark and gloomy.

this was done by a Yankee KTL sailor called Rob Hoffman - you can see his other boat in the background

It's fun and it's well done. The problem is that it would not take much for somebody trying to replicate the thing to make a disaster of it.

The hull is nice and bright but not to my taste. I like the replacement windows though, very swish.

Now use I like that its well done and has character, it could of so easily gone wrong like those window!!

Each to there own, I wanted to put large animal down the side of my boat to suit her name every one said no, this is tempting me to do it!

In fact its quite clever. Because he could use a brush. With perhaps 6 colours he could probably have done the entire boat with 6 X 500 ml Tins of Paint.
Plus with these small areas he could use 2 pack. Letting the colours merge he then goes round the edges with a 1" brush in black Two Pack
