I would be pleased if anybody could answer my questions:

1. The fuel tank of my Corsair made in 1985 is not manufactured of stainless steel?

2. One of the welding seam shows some rust. I am afraid one day it will beginn to leak. I can´t imagine how to take out the old one to replace it by a new one. Any hints?

My Centaur had a ten gallon steel fuel tank with an aluminium stop tap fitted to it. There was a lot of useless space round the tank (under the port side cockpit seat) so I decided to replace the steel tank for a much larger 35 gallon plastic bag style tank. At the same time I moved the filler so it is outside the cockpit. The new installation has used up otherwise useless space and, any fuel spilled during the far fewer occasions replenishing is required, is not now into the cockpit. Once removed, the old alloy tap in the tank had just about rotted through so, the job saved having the bilges full of diesel.
