I am looking into joining a club on the Blackwater. Having had a pint in there and looking at their website it looks a formidable club, but I can find no indication of membership fees. Can anyone help?

Not a member of WMYC but frequent visitor and organise 2 or 3 sailing association meets there each year. Great staff, always helpful and made to feel welcome in bar. Good food too. They have a launch service which runs most days for getting out to the boat.

As for membership I think you have to be proposed and seconded or at least meet some of the committee. Give the club a call - Angela the General Sec is a great help and will be able to tell you all.

There are other clubs in the Blackwater depending on what you are looking for. Marconi SC is a self help club with a great spirit. I am sure others can sing the praises of others.

Being of the 'short arms / deep pockets' brigade I don't belong to any local clubs! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Full Member's subscription for 2009/2010 is I think going to be £300 (I didn't go to the AGM!) but that was the proposal.

Yes you have to get proposed and seconded but that won't be a problem unless you have horns and cloven feet.

All correct from Tillergirl, except you do have a joining fee to add to that of a years subs...IIRC
