I'do Solent, Weymouth, Salcombe, Fowey, Helford (thats a week) Falmouth, Mevagissey, Cawsand/Newton Ferrers, Dartmouth back to Solent plus a bit of dotting about. Enjoy!
The pubs are OK, but if you want an excellent meal go to Yealm Yacht Club. Either bar snacks downstairs or a superb meal in the Restaurant upstairs. Book beforehand if you want to use the restaurant. Good showers at the club too.

You would obviously have to check wind direction before entering the Yealm.... not reccomended from S SW from memory.... there is a bar not far from the entrance.
[/ QUOTE ] It has to be pretty bad for the Yealm entrance to become untenable. IMHO of course... The bar is not an issue as there is always enough water to the south of it for our 39 footer. Though don't get too close to the Port Hand marks as the bar keeps growing southwards...

Have you thought about taking a Good Pub Guide with you as well ?

The Ferry Boat inn at Dittisham, is really good for food and libations. Ray & Cath, always have a welcome for yachties. Also if you go in regatta week (last week in August) you'll get the Red Arrows flying round the masthead. Not to mention strapping young ladies rowing Boston Whalers past your anchorage. Have a splendid time.
Try the Rising Sun for food; this is the pub that is tucked away at the top of Kingsand and often missed by visiting sailors. New landlord there and we had excellent fish soup on the last visit.
Get there early at weekends.
Kingsand and Cawsand are fine Cornish fishing villages and were, untill quite recently, totally unspoiled.
The Yealm is always worth a visit. A boat of 6ft draught could well ground, inside the bar, at LW springs. Brian.
Thanks guys. We ended going from Cowes straight to Falmouth. A dead run for 28 hours and a lovely sail. We then went to Mylor, Mevagissey, Fowey, Polperro, Plymouth, Salcombe, Weymouth, Yarmouth and got home at lunchtime today.
We saw loads of basking sharks off Falmouth and Fowey and came across a broken down speedboat with five lads in it southwest of Bolt Head which we towed in to Salcombe.
