Is there any update on the future of the outer harbour now that the wind farm no longer wish to operate from Wells? I should think that the loss of revenue will be difficult to recover, even if it's opened up to leisure users. Operating the dredger can't be cheap, and possibly not sustainable. We always managed to get in and out before it came.

Could be an ongoing issue for a number of harbour, I spoke to a colleague a while ago who was involved in off shore hotel ships as the running back and forth on wind cars with often only 4or5 on board was getting very costly and as the wind farms get further off adds much wasted time,

The wind farms provided a good alternative to fishing and attracted a lot of new builds of fast cats. I wonder what else they could do if this source of income withers.

Let the berths to visitors and locals? The sand harbour could even be extended towards the town with yet more dredging! ?

The harbour authorities seem to have the matter in hand . I hope so as Wells Next the Sea is very much a favourite destination .

WHC seem to be a pretty forward thinking bunch and better at coming up with business plans than any council run harbour (where the HM's usually come up with good plans and the council shoot them down) so hopefully they have a few good ideas in the pipeline, even an earlier entry temporary berth would be a useful thing to make passage timing easier, I've been put in there before for a couple of hours before when they have had things going on in the harbour and moved up to the pontoons later (I always aim for early entry anyway being a shallow mobo).
