Early yesterday evening SWMBO and I found a mooring near a slipway just a way upstream from Sheridan Marine. The reason was to get some petrol at a nearby station, that wasn't actually that nearby when walking with a five gallon can full of petrol!
We intended to stay the night but I had concerns about being so close to an isolated dirt track road which could be asking for trouble if a car load of 'yoofs' turned up. While I sat getting my breath back from the long petrol jaunt a couple of young blokes turned up, one with jet black hair, long black robe, walking stick and black mask over his face!!!
SWMBO agreed that the food she had started to prepare can wait and we cast off and so glad we did as just the other side of a clump of bushes from where we had been were the two guys, one who looked like a new age traveller was sat down on the bank and the one dressed in black was stood up reading from a piece of paper. All VERY weird!
Moored upstream at Wallingford at lovely mooring in the safety of other boaters.
I'm just off into town to see if I can buy a similar outfit to the guy dressed in black so I can scare off boats if I want their mooring....
